Club member, Dave Moir, was TBH’s sole representitive at this year’s VAANEE 10k Championships and sends in this report. A bit of a disappointing turn out with only 7 of the 8 entrants making it to the start line, possibly due to a conflicting fixture taking many of the potential entrants over to Farringdon to compete in the …

TBH guide to Aqua Running

Club member, Anji Close, introduces us to the world of Aqua Running. I want to start by attempting to dispel two common misconceptions about aqua running. 1: It’s not just for injured runners 2: It’s definitely NOT the same thing as aqua aerobics. My baptism of fire into aqua running came in May this year …

Great North Run memories

Continuing our series of GNR memories, we have this one from 1991. Take it away Stu Dickson.. 1991 My First Great North Run. My first Great North Run was 21 years ago so my memory of the event has slightly faded, but as I was a young ‘whip snapper of a lad’!!! I can remember being …

parkrun round-up 8th Sept

Congratulations to David Beech, who dipped under 17 minutes for the first time on Saturday.  Clear bright skies made for perfect running conditions, and with many using the parkrun event as a final preparation run before next weekend’s GNR, there was a massive turnout of 319 runners.    Results for Newcastle parkrun, event number 137, 08/09/2012. 319 participants completed the run on …

TBH guide to Fell Running

Club member, Louis Goffe, extols the virues of fell running. The sport of running is as diverse and colourful as the personalities that we have in our great club. Its beauty is in its simplicity and its accessibility, no one is excluded and there is a flavour for us all to enjoy. For many in …

Simply the best!!

Good news folks, Newcastle has came top of a recent survey to find the UK’s best running city. parkrun roundup – 1st September 2012

Giving the fact there were two big races the following day, there was (unsurprisingly) a fairly low turnout by club members at Newcastle parkrun on Saturday.  Nevertheless, Sparrow and TC managed to entertain all those at the finishing line by having a minor tiff towards the end of the run. Apparently, there had been some sort of …
