Sean Kelly reports from the annual Good Friday Relays.   It was Good and it was Friday. Kenny Mac has a store of terrible jokes which are only funny if you bear in mind that they are meant to be awful. One of which is, “Why are they called the ‘Good Friday Relays’? Answer, ‘They are …

Thirsk 10M Road Race: 24 March 2013

Well done to the small contingent of Tyne Bridge Harriers who travelled to Thirsk on Sunday to take part in the annual Thirsk 10 Mile road race. Although it was nowhere near as cold as Prudhoe x-c the previous day, the wind was just as strong, with many runners reckoning it put minutes on their finishing times (not that old excuse again ;-)). Nevertheless, with so many …

parkrun roundup: 23rd February 2013

Despite looking and feeling more like the Arctic, the general consensus amongst the good folk of Newcastle parkrun was what a fabulous time they’d had running around the snow-bound Town Moor. And although the deep, crisp snow wasn’t ideal for fast running conditions, there were still a couple of PB’s to shout about. So well …

Northern Cross Country Championships: 26th January 2013

A very special well done to the 7 Tyne Bridge members who travelled to Knowsley Park, Liverpool, on Saturday to take part in this year’s Northern Cross Country Championships. Well done to club members GEMMA BRADY and GAIL ALLAN for taking part in this year’s BUPA Great Winter Run in Edinburgh.   The 5K race was one of a number of events on the day, and given the nature of the course (“the hills were hardcore” said Gemma afterwards), both ladies are to be congratulated.
