Updated June 17th 2021

Following the Government’s announcement on Monday evening to delay the lifting of all Covid related restrictions to the 19th July, our Bridges of the Tyne 5 Mile Road Race on the 6th July, cannot now go ahead. We cannot have a mass start of 500 plus people on the Newcastle Quayside and, as the race has an evening start time and takes place in a confined space, a staggered start is unworkable. We have considered whether we could move the race date to sometime later in the summer but have decided we don’t want to find ourselves in the same position if there is a further delay after the 19th July. Therefore, the race will be postponed until the 5th July 2022.

We are as disappointed by this decision as we know you will be. Preparations for the race have been at an advanced stage and Tyne Bridge Harriers had been looking forward to hosting what is always a great race and evening.

Your place will automatically transfer to the 5th July 2022. However, if you would like a refund email hello@racebest.com . Please bear in mind though that you will then have to reapply for a place in next year’s race. As it’s a very popular race there is no guarantee that you will get a place. Transfers for the 2022 race will remain open until shortly before the race itself next year. Further information about the closing date for transfers will appear on our Facebook page in 2022.
See you again next year on the 5th July and, in the meantime, look after yourselves.

Kind regards
Micky Baker
