Course: Its a fast, mainly flat, out & back 5 mile course along the quayside passing the iconic bridges of the Tyne. There is a water station at half way.
Age limit: Minimum age for entry is 15 on the day.
Prize giving: The Tyne Bar, 8:30pm prompt (all prizes not determined by this time will be posted).

Race HQ and registration is at The Tyne Bar on Maling Street, with registration beginning from 5:30 pm and closing at 6:45 pm. The race HQ is approximately 800 metres from the start on the Quayside and there will be an area set aside at The Tyne Bar for runners to store baggage. The race starts and finishes on Newcastle’s historic Quayside passing seven of the rivers iconic bridges.

We have one of the most generous prize lists in any local race with 1st, 2nd and 3rd prizes in all age categories where we get sufficient runners. Full details are available here.

Clubs will again be competing for the fantastic Kevin Cheetham Trophy. This is awarded to the club who have lowest combined finish places* for their first senior male, senior female, veteran male (V40) and veteran female (V40) athletes.

Full rules for The Kevin Cheetham Trophy:

i) The trophy is awarded to the team with the lowest points finishing positions of the 1st senior female, 1st vet female, 1st senior male and 1st vet male. Points are counted for each group separately i.e. the first senior female, V40 female, senior male and V40 male are all awarded 1 point, the second senior female, V40 female, senior male and V40 male are awarded 2 points etc. Non-club runners are included in the count.

ii) Veterans for this award are deemed to be V40 for both sexes.

iii) If the points award is equal then the first club to have all runners across the line (i.e. the team with the lowest scoring ‘4th counter’) will be the winner, regardless of age categories.

iv) Two veterans are unable to claim the positions should they be the first runners home, there must be a senior (under 40) and veteran (over 40) in each category for the award to be valid.

v) The Race Director’s decision is final
