Another fantastic turnout from Tyne Bridge Harriers at the weekend where 14 Black n White vests lined up for the FREE weekly 5k race on Newcastle Town Moor.

Conditions were perfect as 9:00 struck and the 78th Newcastle parkrun was underway.

Two of our athletes were taking on the course for the first time. Piers Pye Watson and Jude Smith both recorded PB’s as it was their first time on the course.. Well done to you both and welcome to parkrun :-)

Well done to Tony ‘TC’ Carter who was “just having a jog around the course” for being the first Tyne Bridge Harrier home in 17:33

Ron Murray, in his first race in eight months took 2nd in his age category in 21:47.. well done Big Ron.

Dave Appleby took 1st in the VM45-49 age category with a superb run of 18:27. Excellent stuff Dave.

The familiar faces of Mark Reynolds, Daniel Coyle, Mark Black & Victoria Waugh also knocked valuable seconds of their previous runs to grab on tight to shiny new PB’s.. excellent news and Congratulations to you.

Across the board, we had brilliant solid runs from everyone who took part. Kerry Reed, The Mountain Marathon Man Alan Wallace, Dave Young, Colin Rainey & Denise Waugh, all showing true commitment to their running and the continuing promotion of Tyne Bridge Harriers as a running club.

Many congratulations for an absolutely blistering run and new PB goes to Ian Hudspith from Morpeth Harriers who pulled out a stunning 14:36 on the Town Moor course. It was a delight to watch as he crossed the line like a bullet. Well done Ian. With another top runner, Heatons James Buis coming in at 15:58.. it shows just how HOT Hudspith was on Saturday morning.

I’ve ridden the lead bike when James has been speeding up behind me so congratulations must also go to Sparrow Morley who’s had borrowed his girlfriends two-wheeler to do volunteer Saftey Bike.. for keeping in front of Ian :-)

The majority of the top local running clubs were very well represented on Saturday which is a great thing both for local athletics as well as the concept of parkrun. Saltwell, Morpeth, Gateshead, Claremont, all had a great number of runners but well done to our friends at Heaton Harriers for a massive 25 runners..excellent
