The North East Volunteer Awards took place on Wednesday evening (25th September) and TBH Membership Secretary Kevin Cheetham was recognised for his contribution to the sport by being named as runner-up in the Volunteer of the Year category.

Although richly deserved, what I find staggering is how Kev could only be named as runner-up, because shy of shoving a brush up his backside and sweeping the floor, he does just about everything at the club.

From meeting new runners at sessions to registering them with England Athletics, Kev plays a significant role in every members journey at TBH.

Need a club vest? See Kev.

Need a lift to a race? See Kev.

Having trouble entering a race? See Kev.

In fact, if you’ve any club related query just see Kev and you’ll be sorted.

Since it’s inception in 2011, TBH has been blessed with some remarkable people who have been involved in it’s development as a successful North East running club and Kev’s name is top of the pile.

And all the while, he’s the nicest, most genuine guy you could meet and will be wondering what all the fuss is about (and giving me stick for posting this article).

Congratulations Kev.

  1. When I first joined the club as a wee lonesome Scot living in the North East- Kev was always a friendly face at training nights, sorted me out with club membership/ race information and became a good friend. Miss the banter now that I’ve moved back home to Scotland and especially miss him shouting “watch the posts” in the best Geordie accent!!!! A total legend! Congrats Kev !
