It’s that time of year again.

There’s quite a bit of information in this post so please make sure you understand if you are interested in taking part in this years event.

The 2017 Bridges Of The Tyne 5 Mile Road Race will take place on Tuesday 4th July.

This will be the 6th year that Tyne Bridge Harriers have hosted this popular race and it is now a firm favourite on the annual race calendar. Last years places were snapped up in 50 minutes.

Following last years event, we asked for athlete feedback regarding the organisation, race experience & race entry system. The feedback was very welcomed & positive.

Regarding the entry process, from the feedback received, it was noted that many runners missed out on a place for several reasons. The limited amount of places available meant that some runners were still filling in the form when the race had already sold out. The other reason was that some runners missed their chance because of the time the race entries opened.

We have listened to your feedback & this year, we hope to make things easier by introducing a pre-entry registration system. This will open at 09:00 on 1st February and remain open until 22:00 on Sunday 26th February.

ENTRIES WILL OPEN ON TUESDAY 28TH FEBRUARY FROM 07:00

We will also be opening the race entries at 3 separate time-slots, these will be 07:00 (Morning), 12:30 (Lunch), & 20:00 (Evening). When you fill in the registration form, select a time-slot that is most convenient for you to enter. There will be an equal amount of 145 places available for each time-slot & you will be sent the payment link via email at your chosen time. For this reason, it is very important that you register a valid & regularly checked Email address. One may also see this website to understand better payment methods that can be actualised in the near future.

** You must pre-register to be sent the payment/entry link **

To keep it fair for all, please only register for one time-slot. Duplicate registrations will be removed before the payment link is sent out.

Prices for the race will remain the same as last year; £16.75 for unattached runners, £14.75 for club runners.

Once again, we will be holding an internal club ballot for Tyne Bridge Harriers athletes only and be allocating 50 places to TBH members. The 50 places are not included in the available entries on opening day.

If you are club runner, you will need to submit your valid England Athletics Registration number on the form. This can be found on your 2016/17 registration card. If you don’t know this, please ask your Membership Secretary who will be able to help.

Pre-Registration does not guarantee that you have a place in this years race. Successful payment of the entry fee must be made to secure a place. You will receive a payment notification from PayPal & also official confirmation from Tyne Bridge Harriers.

PLEASE NOTE: There will be no refunds available for this event.

If you are unsuccessful in getting a place, you will be emailed an opportunity to be added to the reserve list. If you have not pre-registered, you will not be able to be added to the reserve list.

If you have any queries, please get in touch below & someone will help.

    • Hi Jannene,

Registrations are closed at the moment but keep checking back as there may be people who can no longer do the race who pre-registered. Will post any further information on the website in due course.

  2. Hi I pre registered for this years race and made a pay pal payment at the time alloted. The payment went through however today I have a email from PayPal to say my payment has been refunded. Does this mean I do not have a place in the race after all as it is not clear . Many thanks

  3. Hi there

I had to pull out last year because of a knee injury but was wondering if there has been any returns that I could be considered for? I am going to be 60 this year and wanted to celebrate by doing all the local races which are iconic. I am in the Blaydon and the GNR and would love to do this one. The only time I was successful in securing a place I was injured .
