North of England Track League (Div 3E)

Track & Field maestro Dave Moir invites you all to some fun and games.

The first NoE Track League (Div 3E) fixture is coming up soon on Star Wars Day (May the 4th) at Eastbourne Sports Complex, Bourne Avenue, Off Hundens Lane, Darlington, DL1 1LJ.

We are partnered with Heaton Harriers again after gaining promotion to the third division last year.

There are 4 fixtures in total and this has a real School sports day feel to it (don’t forget to bring your pack lunch). The way to do well at this is to get 2 athletes into every event (male and female), and the teams that do best, tend to be the ones that get ladies into every event. I’ve ended up throwing the hammer (still hold the V40 club record for that!!), hurdling, running 400m (several times in the same meeting), jumping about a bit, and have thoroughly enjoyed it all. The ability is very mixed and you very often get 2 or 3 very accomplished athletes doing it properly, whilst the rest of us are just getting points for the club. It’s a real team event, and a great day out even if you just want to come along and spectate.

The fixtures are as follows :-

Sunday, 4th May, Darlington (Chester Le Street hosting)
Saturday, 7th June, Churchill/Monkseaton (North Shields Poly hosting)
Sunday, 13th July, Morpeth (Morpeth hosting at their own track)
Saturday, 9th August, Churchill/Monkseaton (Houghton hosting)

If you are keen to have a go, then please let me know what your first choice events would be, and what events you’d be willing to have a go at. You won’t be asked to do anything you’re not capable of doing. I can let you have a full list of the events if you e-mail me (click here).

For those without transport I’m fairly sure the TBH taxi service will be in full operation on the day.
