All juniors in year groups 6 and above are encouraged to attend the athletics training sessions with coaches Paul O’Mara and Louis Goffe. This is an opportunity to try out track and field events as well as to train and prepare for the North East Youth Development League (NEYDL) athletics fixtures.

Where are the training sessions?

All training sessions take place at the Churchill Athletics Track, Hartley Avenue, Whitley Bay NE26 3NT.

There is parking on the streets close to the track, which is then a short walk away.  It is also a few minutes’ walk from Monkseaton metro station.

Parents and guardians may stay and watch.

What kit does my junior need for training?  What else should we bring?

Juniors will need clothes suitable for running, trainers or track shoes.

Bring a drink (s) and snacks. There is no food or drink to purchase at the venue. 

Be prepared for wet and / or sunny weather because there is no cover.  A waterproof, hat, suncream are advised.
