New Junior Committee: Welfare Officer sought

A new Junior committee is in place following the Annual General Meeting on Tuesday 31 April.

Junior Secretary – Claire Whitelaw
Junior Membership – Amy Palmer
Under 12 Head Coach – Paul Colver
Over 12 Head Coach – Paul O’Mara
Team Manager – Kirsteen Kilgour
Welfare Officer – VACANT
Nominated Rep – Jane Palmer

We are seeking a volunteer as soon as possible for the important and essential role of Welfare Officer.

Ideally – but not essential – this would be someone who is familiar with safety/safeguarding. Training would be provided by England Athletics. It is not a hugely time consuming role but we do need help with our systems and processes.

Please get in touch with Ian Pickett, TBH Chair if you would like to volunteer and are interested in finding out more (chair@tynebridgeharriers.com) or speak to Ian / one of the coaches at training.

NEYDL athletics league: get registered

The next NEYDL athletics meet is on Sunday 19 May. If your junior wants to take part, please contact Kirsteen Kilgour so she can register them – either speak to her at training or email her (email address on StackApp post of Thursday 2 May). If you want to find out more, read this post on our website: North East Youth Development League 2024 – Tyne Bridge Harriers Juniors (which also links to the NEYDL league website, which also has useful information such as event timetables for each venue).

Entries open for the Sunshine Run 5k (19 June)

Juniors aged over 15 years old are encouraged to enter the Sunshine Run 5k race on Newcastle Quayside on Wednesday 19 June. (Please note there will be no racing group that evening as Paul will be cheering his juniors on at the race!)

The race raises money for the Chronicle Sunshine Fund, a great charity that buys equipment for young people with disabilities and life limiting illnesses.

It would be great to get a big Tyne Bridge Harriers Juniors turnout for the race. Adults may enter too.

You can enter the race here before 5 June: https://entry.eventsupnorth.co.uk/races/gfctk

Training w.c. Monday 6 May
