In a busy couple of weeks the Shutdown Striders have shown that they’re not only accomplished athletes but they have a flair for marketing and branding. Graeme, the Strider’s team boss, talks us through their work.
Shutdown Striders chose our team name and logo through a rigorous democratic process. We invited ideas for prospective team names from the whole team and came up with no less than 16 alternatives.
Once the polls closed we then endured a tense period with two recounts before we were able to announce that Alanah’s suggestion of “Shutdown Striders” was duly elected as our team name by a margin of one vote. It was also decided that Hope’s idea of “If I die, please pause my Garmin” should be adopted as our team moto.
The following week the Striders moved on to choose a team logo from suggestions put forward from Hope and David, with Hope being successful again.
