On what was can best be described as a fairly chilly but dry day, TBH juniors did their best to run off all the mince pies they consumed over the Christmas period in the Sherman cup for the boys, and the Davison Shield for the girls, at Temple Park in South Shields today (Saturday 5-1-19)

First up were Henry Pickett and Laurence Chataway in the U11 boys race. They were neck and neck for the whole race, and it wasn’t until the final bend that Henry put his foot down to take the victory by mere seconds. A great effort by both boys, Henry finishing in 48th position in a time of 5:09 with Laurence finishing in 50th position in a time of 5:11.

Next up were the U13 boys and first over the line was David Carr in 21st position, in a time of 12:47, closely followed by Zak Kettle in 23rd place in a time of 13:11. Next in was Harrry Snaith completing the team in 53rd position in a time of 14:16 and backing them up was Jake Moir closely behind in 60th place in a time of 14:49. The 10th place for the U13 boys team contributed to the clubs overall position of 7th for the Sherman Cup.

Our final juniors out on the day were in the U13 girls race with Amber Maynard first TBH in 56th position in a time of 15:50 with Katie Smeaton in her first ever race for Tyne Bridge in 66th place in a time of 19:35.

Well done to all who ran, particularly our new member Katie Smeaton, who stuck to the task in hand and gave it her all.

Dave Moir
