Cross country race report by Jake Dorman

           Mud, sweat and tears

Well done to all TBH Juniors who turned out, despite the freezing temperatures, icy cold wind and thick mud! (What were we all thinking?)

The rain dampened the soil, but certainly didn’t dampen the gusto shown by TBH juniors

The mudfest started with the U11 boy’s race. Michael Harland had a terrific race finishing 26th in 5:32. Jake Moir was making his TBH debut, and despite being up all night with a fever he insisted on representing his club! Unfortunately, the virus struck on the day, but well done to Jake, his commitment was admirable!

Next up were the U11 girls. The cold and mud were very challenging and the girls battled through heroically! In an impressive display of teamwork Lauren Bird and Anna Dorman came in together- finishing 31st and 32nd respectively. Jessica Walton’s shoe was sucked into the mud bog and she ran the rest of the route with her shoe half on, she subsequently finished 44th.

The U13 boys were represented by Jake and Finlay Dorman. Jake had a very strong start (in the top 5 of the fast pack for the first 2km.) Unfortunately there was some confusion about the route and Jake started to sprint for the finish, then realised he still had another lap to go… He ended up with a time of 14:23. Finlay ran well and got a time of 17:02. When asked how it went, he said “no comment”.

Finally were the U13 girls. Hannah Turney (Another TBH debut) was our only runner in this race, hopefully she will have more company next time. She ran a steady race finishing in 20:17 and one toenail down.

Having successfully churned up the route for the seniors our job was done.
