What turned out to be an unseasonably hot day following an extended period of dry weather meant conditions were far from what you would expect (and some would enjoy) for cross country. Most runners opted for trainers or trail shoes to deal with the hard and dry conditions underfoot, and many of the juniors (who had to contend with the worst of the conditions) ended up struggling.

Our only U11 was first timer in the Harrier League Poppy Colver. The parental threat of not being allowed to pick her new puppy, Monty, up that afternoon without a top 10 finish spurred her on, but alas 32nd place in a time of 8:13 for the 1500m course resulted in Monty going to live with another family, and poor Poppy being left devastated (I am of course joking, and can confirm Poppy and her sister Ruby collected Monty in a state of excitement later on that day). The TBH labrador division is ever growing !!

Next up were the U13 boys, and with 3 running, I’m pleased to say they were a fantastic 6th place. Freddie Palmer was first in with a brilliant 10th place in a time of 9:54, he was backed up by Liam Whitelaw in 31st place in a time of 11:03 narrowly holding off Lucas Powell in 33rd place just 1 second behind him.

U13 boys

We only had 2 out in the U13 girls race, but it was another closely fought in house battle that resulted in TBH new signing Naimah Michla taking the honours in a time of 13:18 for 26th place, very closely followed by Alanah Perowne in a time of 13:22 and only 1 place behind.

The U15 boys also completed a team coming in in 8th place overall. The team comprising of Jake Moir 11:02 in 35th place, George Weare (in his first ever XC race for the club) in 39th place in a time of 11:14 and Harry Snaith in 46th place in a time of 12:22

The U15 girls had 2 representatives, and as mentioned earlier, Ruby Colver’s parental target was a top 10 finish in order to be allowed to pick up the latest TBH Lab mascot later on that day. Ruby didn’t hit the required target, but still put in a good performance with a 24th place finish in a time of 12:03, followed closely by Laura Whitman (who wasn’t promised a puppy later that day) in a time of 13:49 in 35th place.

Our final junior runner of the day was Zak Kettle in the U17 men’s race, finishing a fantastic 13th place in a time of 19:34 for the 5k course.

Not sure if I’m allowed to mention, but former TBH junior, Fraser Bigg, ran his first XC in the senior men’s race, having to cover 6 miles in a time of 42:18 in slightly better conditions than the juniors had to contend with, as things had cooled down a lot by then.
