The Carr family had a productive time at Kielder this weekend. In glorious conditions on the Saturday, John unceremoniously took a minute and a half out of his father in the 10K, coming an impressive 23rd with a time of 42:33, with his Dad, Graham, following shortly after that in 37th place in a time of 44:04. Knowing Kielder, this would have been a fairly undulating course, as there isn’t anywhere flat round there.

On the Sunday, conditions were a little cooler, but that didn’t dissuade the younger members of the family from showing the older ones what they could do.  Both races were started by Daley Thompson, tooting the horn in his gold McLaren sports car, and accelerating away from the field – maybe Daley could lend it to the HL to start some of their races ?

Despite the unusual start, David was 10th in the hilly 2.5k U16s Falcons race (David is only 11) in a time of 12:00, and his younger sister Anna gave a good account of herself in the 1.5k flatter U11s Ospreys race coming 21st in a time of 8:59.

As you can see from the pictures, both David and Anna were putting a fair amount of effort in, judging by the amount of air there was beneath them both.

I think all the family received plenty of TBH encouragement, so suspect there were quite a few TBH Seniors around as well.

Well done all,

Dave Moir
