A Wrekenton Cross Country Report

By Jane Harland πŸ™‚

The sky was grey, the ground was nice and hard and nothing could stop the ten TBH Juniors from running the last Cross Country Race of the season.

The first race up was the under 11 boys. Our only junior in that race was Jake Moir and we knew that he would give it everything that he had. And so he did, finishing the race in a well-deserved 50th Place!

After that was the under 11 girl’s race. We had 4 of our TBH juniors running in the race. Anna Dorman, Lauren Bird, Jessica Walton and Hope Moir. They all had a brilliant race, looking strong from the start all the way to the end! Anna came 24th with a phenomenal time of 7:56. Then came in Lauren Bird with a time of 8:22 finishing 25th overall. Jessica Walton and Hope Moir came 40th and 47th respectively.

The next race was the under 13 boys. Our three runners, Jake Dorman, Finlay Dorman and Kieron Wilkinson never fail to disappoint and always finish races with huge smiles on their faces. After starting in the fast pack, Jake palmed off the opposition and came a spectacular 17th. However on time he finished 10th! Finlay Dorman finished the XC race in 9th place with a time of 10:43. The third junior was Kieron Wilkinson returning after several months out. He completed the team coming in with a time of 12:04. Well Done Boys!

The next race was the under 13 girls. Hannah Turney and I both ran in that race. Wrekenton, being my personal Favourite cross country course ever, was a race that I knew I could do. Stepping up to the start line, Hannah and I both got ready for yet another Cross Country. After the gun went, that was it, we both started to run determined to get to the finish line. We managed to run up the big hill, run down the big hill and finish the race. Hannah finished the race in 13:06 which was impressive considering the stony conditions up the hill underfoot. I however finished in 25th place with a time of 12:15. Managing to beat my previous time of 13:02. πŸ˜‰

After the race everyone was entertained by Lauren Bird`s humour that seemed to go on for forever! πŸ˜‰

Overall, every junior done Tyne Bridge Harriers proud and I can’t wait for the next XC season!

Also, a big thank you to Si, Dave Moir, Morag and Sinead for their continued support throughout the season!
