TBH Winter Grand Prix Statistics

Every cloud…

Unfortunately, injury has meant member Alasdair Blain has been away from the club for the past few months. But rather than mope around and disengage from running completely (which tend’s to be my way of recovery – DD), Alasdair has kept busy by developing a software program recording and analysing every result from previous Winter Grand Prix events.

I’ll let Alasdair explain further.

Over the past month or so, I’ve been taking my mind off the fact that I’m not running by looking at what everyone else is getting up to when they’re running! As a result I’ve put together a little webpage that may be of interest to some members, concerning the winter GP results. It uses the same statistical software and programming language I use in my work at the uni, so I’ve used the data as a training tool to learn a new package.

In a nutshell, the page takes input of up to five runners and plots their recorded times across the last three series. It also presents the data in a table. The idea is that members can input friends (or rivals!) and see how they compare across time. They can also see where each time puts them in terms of training groups; i.e. Sub 17:30 is Group 1 standard, Sub 19:30 Group 2 etc.

Click here to try-out the software program.

You are such an artful stirrer, King Louis. I’ll never close the gap on that young man. Not now. Don’t know about Steady Eddy, though! Now, there’s an improver!!
