NE Veterans – 2011 Track & Field Championships

North East Veterans – 2011 Track & Field Championships results
Monkton Stadium, July 9th 2011

Well done to Lisa Walker, Micky Baker and Sparrow Morley for representing Tyne Bridge Harriers at this year’s 2011 Track Championships.

Micky Baker in action

In perfect conditions for racing, Lisa ran superbly to claim Gold medals in both the 1500m and 3000m races for her Age Group, whilst Micky won a Gold medal for his Age Category in the 5000m race.

To fill in some spare time during the race programme, the organisors announced a 1 Mile race open to all comers, and with a little persuasion, both Sparrow and Micky stepped forward to put their names down.

After a steady opening lap, Sparrow upped a gear and slowly pulled away from the rest of the field, eventually finishing in 1st place with a time if 5.10.3 and recieving his own Gold medal in the process.

That’s great going all round – winning ways indeed for Team TBH!

Well done to Lisa on your double gold – I didn’t realise you’d raced this on Saturday ahead of the Anita Knott run – that’s excellent work.

Nice to see Sparrow smiling for the camera on his way round too, although you could have stopped to help the bloke in the blue jacket open his umbrella!

    Mark
