Tyne Bridge Harriers’ Winter Grand Prix series takes place on the first Tuesday of the month, between October and March.
As a result of the increasing popularity of the event, and the fact that the race is now ran under UK Athletics rules, race organisers have had to introduce a number of guidelines to ensure;
a) The safety of all runners, volunteers and general public on the course.
b) The good name of Tyne Bridge Harriers is preserved amongst the local community.
c) Race results can be processed as quickly and smoothly as possible.
d) Tyne Bridge Harriers’ comply with their UK Athletics race licence
Please can members read and take notice of the following;
There are a minimum number of marshalling points that need to be filled during the event. Can members wishing to volunteer on race night please inform race organisers a few days in advance. Volunteers are asked to make their way directly to the start between 6.15 – 6.30pm to register for duty.
All competitors must register at East End Pool prior to the race. The Registration team will have a registration desk between 6:00-6:30pm and it is the athlete’s responsibility to register.
In the interest of safety, it is compulsory for all runners and marshals – including cyclists – to wear hi-visibility clothing i.e. club vest, light clothing or hi-viz bib.
The use of headphones during races is forbidden.
Refusal will mean non-participation in the event.
As the race is adjacent to a housing estate and industrial units, members are requested to keep noise to a minimum level and restrain from urinating in surrounding areas.
Anyone seen urinating in a public space – particularly next to the Marines Reserve Base – will not be allowed to run.
After crossing the finishing line all runners must stay in their finishing position until they have been officially recorded. Runners must keep to the footpath and keep the road clear.
If anyone has any queries, please do not hesitate to contact the club.
