Yorkshire Threes Peaks – Race Report

Yorkshire Three Peaks Sunday, 30th August 2020 Report by Simon Pryde   Lots of us are missing racing. I read with interest Matt’s re-evaluation of running (A time to reflect), and not so much why it’s important, but HOW it is.   And whilst I agree we can all become a little too obsessed with …

Al Andalus Trail Race: Race Report

One of the many joys of helping out with the club website is getting to read members’ race reports before anyone else, and this one by Simon Pryde is an absolute belter.   Al Andalus Trail Race: July 2015 “It can’t be accurate”. Someone had photographed upon a building in Loja a large, red, digital …

Kielder Ultra Trail Race report

Thankfully, Simon Pryde‘s sport bulletins are more current than his (excellent) race reports, otherwise he’d be telling his listeners England had just won the Football World Cup. In 1966!!   Kielder Ultra Trail Race: 27th April, 2014   Right, I’ve been badgered into this, and some people just will not leave me in peace. A …

The Wall Ultra race report 2014

After completing his first ultra at the weekend Adrian Brooks reports there more to running than quick times and PB’s.  The tag line of the rat race ultra marathon is ‘you’ve had 2000 years to train’. Now that’s not strictly true for me.   The journey to running this, my inaugural ultra at 69 miles, …

2014 Penshaw Hill Race

For most runners, the challenge comes whilst taking part in a race. Simon Pryde’s challenge, however, is actually making it to the race in the first place.   Penshaw Hill Race: Wednesday, 4th June, 2014 “You’ll have to write it. I’ve got decorating to do”. The words of the Badger induced panic. I already have two …

George Ogle Memorial Race report

In a busy week of race reports Stuart Dickson submits his account from Wednesday evening’s MT race.   George Ogle Memorial Race: Wednesday 28th May 2014   “You need a new nipple”. Although I wasn’t fully focused – distracted by the  heavy rain outside – the words of the plumber sounded a bit too familiar …

Penshaw Hill Race Results 2013

Congratulations to club member, Simon Pryde, on being first V40 finisher in this year’s Penshaw Hill Race. Liverpool Half Marathon 2013

After calming down, Simon Pryde has sent in this race report from the Liverpool Half Marathon.   On Sunday, I did the Liverpool Half Marathon. With the Marathon des Sables just 3 weeks away I’d begun my taper, but fancied a race to keep things ticking over.   So off I trundled in the ageing …

The Druid Challenge : 9th – 11th November 2012

Simon Pryde reports from this year’s Ridgeway muti-stage Ultra race. He was in tears when he ran past me. But he still had twelve miles to go. Twelve energy-sapping,  slippery, muddy, hilly miles. It was Day 3 of the Druid Challenge, an undulating 84 mile route from Ivinghoe Beacon near Tring in Hertfordshire to Wroughton, …
