There was a draw in the voting for the latest round of Member of the Month and rather than announce joint winners, we’re going to split the two winners across months. We’ll reopen nominations for February 2019 at the end of this month. As you can see from the winners below, nominations often take into account sustained dedication, improvement or achievement over the course of more than a single month, so anyone you were going to nominate for January can still be put forward for the February award.
December’s member of the month is Steph Knox. Steph was nominated for her recent hard work in training, especially her preparation for the Valencia Marathon on 2nd December where she achieved her goal of sub 4:30. In the previous month, regular training paid off with a 23:06 5k PB for Steph at the Winter Grand Prix.
Steph will be a familiar face to many TBH members. She’s a regular representing our club at cross-country and parkrun, and always seems to run with a smile.
January’s member of the month has been nominated in consecutive months for several months now, which is testament to his consistency and sustained improvement. In nominating him, members mentioned his commitment in training and his determination, leading to some impressive PBs.
In October, Steve ran 90:37 at the Manchester Half Marathon, followed by a superb 3:16:33 at the Frankfurt Marathon a fortnight later. In November, he ran a 19:29 PB at Hartlepool parkrun, followed by another sub-20 at the Winter Grand Prix in the following month. In January, he ran 91:42 in windy conditions at the Brass Monkey Half Marathon.
