2014/15 NEHL: Race 2 Report

I hope she doesn’t mind but I’m going to begin this report with a posting from Sarah Lindsay’s FB page which sum’s up the day beautifully.

…having had time to reflect on yesterday’s NEHL XC in Durham, I think each and every TBH runner should be congratulated on their efforts.

…it was a brutal course, extremely muddy and boggy in places! Elvit Striders were exemplary in their organisation and support of all runners. Thanks also for the TBH support in helping some of us to dig deep when we felt like giving up!

It was another terrific day for the ladies, with Sophie Marr finishing 3rd and the TBH Ladies picking up another team victory

Several of the TBH Ladies.

But it was also a day of guts and determination. As already mentioned, the course was a mud-bath in places and despite several members taking mighty tumbles (Sarah and Laura Irving spring  to mind) it was inspiring to see all the lasses give 100% on behalf of the club.

There were mixed blessings in the Men’s race with TBH finishing 5th overall on the day (holding onto 2nd place in the 1st division table) but producing several individual performances of note. Kurt Heron ran superbly to finish 9th and Medium Pack runners Cees Van Der Land, Sparrow Morley, Matty Tomlinson and Chris Graham all ran terrifically well to finish as counters. It was also good to see Lee Cuthbertson make his club debut, Andy Harrison make a welcome comeback from injury and Steve Pattison make the journey south to compete in the Harrier League.
