Rainbow Led; Book Review

Rainbow Led, Athletics in the North East of England 1914-18 by Archie Jenkins researches both a brief history of athletics before and after World War 1 but also the many military cross country races sanctioned by the North East Counties Cross Country Association during the conflict.

Illustrations are included to give a flavour of the period. The book is dedicated to the many local harriers who paid the highest sacrifice one hundred years ago.

The book will be available at most local athletics meetings/races for £6.99 or £9.50 (including post and package).

This really is a very interesting, well researched book, where you find out about some of the older clubs in the region, and some that no longer exist. If a few people want a copy, then e-mail me and I’ll sort a few out with Archie. I’ll even get them signed for you. David.moir@ncl.ac.uk
