On the eve of it’s 3rd Anniversary, Newcastle parkrun continues to go from strength to strength, with Saturday witnessing another record attendance.
In spite of the wintry conditions, 449 athletes completed the 5k run, including 21 Tyne Bridge members (22 if you count Louis who volunteered as a ‘pacer’ but didn’t want to be classed as a finisher).
And it proved to be a memorial occasion for three members in particular, with Ben Thackray, Scott Wilkinson and Gemma Brady all recording PB’s. Ben’s time of 21:46 was his first time under 22 minutes, Scott’s time of 26:53 was his first sub 27 time and Gemma ran under 26 minutes for the first time with 25:43. Many congratulations to all three.
There was also good news at Riverside parkrun on Saturday, where Sophie Marr finished first female finisher and also ran a parkrun PB of 20:04. Congratulations Sophie.
But regardless of whether you ran a PB, well done to all the members to ran parkrun at the weekend.
