Well done to all those who braved the elements on Saturday morning by taking part in the latest Newcastle parkrun event.
Sub-zero temperatures meant sections of the course were covered in ice and organisors had to modify the course slightly in order for the event to proceed. For the runners, this meant running through 5 inches of mud and clarts in places but everyone (well almost everyone) agreed they were pleased the event went ahead, despite getting wet and dirty.
For those not taking part in the North Eastern Cross Cross Championships next Saturday (8th Dec), Newcastle parkrun will be hosting it’s monthly ‘paced’ event, with pacers targeting 20, 22, 23, 25, 28, 30 and 35 minute runs.

258 participants completed the run on Saturday. The first male to finish was Sparrow John Richard MORLEY (M) (Tyne Bridge Harriers) in a time of 00:17:16. The first lady completing the course was Sophie May MONTGOMERY (F) (Blaydon Harriers & AC) in a time of 00:19:27.
