There have been some remarkable results in the brief existence of Tyne Bridge Harriers, both individually and competing as a team. But the performance by the Men’s ‘A’ Team at the Northern Road Relay Championships must rank as one of the very best.
The team, consisting of Steve Cairns, Tony Carter, Keith Smith, Darryl Davison, Paul Hilton and Sparrow Morley, finished in 28th position overall, but when other clubs ‘B’ and ‘C’ teams were omitted from the results, the team rose to 23rd position, inside the Top 25 and hopefully a place in next month’s National Road Relay Championships. (at the time of writing, it is still unclear whether TBH have qualified so keep coming back).
Special mention must also go to John Hurse, David Rowe, Micky Baker and Keith Rooney, who travelled to Leigh and ran in an incomplete Team ‘B’. But I’m certain from past experience that the four guys will have played just as an important factor in TBH’s fabulous day by providing great support throughout the day.

‘Well done” just doesn’t do this result justice. An absolute fantastic performance by the ‘A’ Team. And a solid showing by the ‘B’ Team too. To the man, every member has done the club proud.

As DD says – a simple pat on the back would fail to acknowledge the scale of this achievement. Qualification for the National Road Relays at Sutton Park is something to which most local clubs aspire, but it is also something that often eludes even the most committed. To do this in our second year is remarkable. Hats off to everyone who delivered this, as well as all club members who made the trip and help set the goals. Brilliant – a huge step forward for the most progressive club in the area!

Well done everyone of you, I couldn’t make this event due to child minding issues and spoke to Steve Cairns on the Friday, his positivity and enthusiasm for representing the club was humbling, driving all the way down to Leigh from the Borders by himself.
Good luck in the Nationals, next up is XC Relays in Sheffield at beginning of October

Well done to all that represented TBH at this Championship, a fantastic result. I think the real star of all this though is our Club captain who’s been on a bit of an emotional roller coaster with it all. If we do qualify for the Nationals, all credit is due to Paul who has driven this whole thing to make sure we have achieved what we have.

Dave Moir has put into words my sentiments entirely. A huge achievement. Every one of the six have written a key chapter in pur club’s history. All of those who gave up their time to travel down to the race deserve huge praise. Finally, Paul… What can be said? A great and inspirational leader. I’m honoured to wear the same club colours as him and count him as my good friend.
