parkrun roundup – 25th August 2012

Congratulations to Sophie Marr for finishing 1st lady at Newcastle parkrun on Saturday.  In damp, muddy conditions, over 200 runners completed the 5k run around the Town Moor, including seven Tyne Bridge members.  David Beech, making his parkrun debut, was first finisher for the club in a cracking time of 17:11.

Next Saturday, 1st September, is the 6th (and final) race of the club’s Summer parkrun series. Further details to follow.

221 participants completed the run on Saturday. The first male to finish was Daniel Royston Russel BRADFORD (M) (Sale Harriers Manchester) in a time of 00:16:06. The first lady completing the course was Sophie MARR (F) (Tyne Bridge Harriers) in a time of 00:21:26.

114 participants completed the run on Saturday. The first male to finish was Craig ISHERWOOD (M) in a time of 00:17:17. The first lady completing the course was Joy CHAMPION (F) (Sunderland Strollers) in a time of 00:22:17.

For those who haven’t ran Sunderland parkrun, Rob’s time of 19:10 is a great performance on a demanding course. Starting and finishing on an incline, anyone seeking a tough workout ought to do this event.

Results for  Gorleston Cliffs parkrun (Great Yarmouth), event number 175, 25/08/2012.

125 participants completed the run on Saturday. The first male to finish was Ted OLDMAN (M) (Bungay Black Dog RC) in a time of 00:18:20. The first lady completing the course was Jody HARRISON (F) in a time of 00:23:24.

By all accounts, David was robbed of 1st place by being shafted  drafted by a young lad for the majority of the run.  Sitting in behind Dave from the start, the youngster took full advantage of being in Dave’s slip-stream by overtaking him with only a few hundred meters to go and sprinting to the finishing line.  Hard luck Dave
