It was a cause for double celebration at Newcastle parkrun on Saturday, as Heaton Harrier, Eric Appleby, not only completed his 100th parkrun (joining an illustrious group of parkrunners) but also celebrated his forthcoming birthday this Tuesday (July 10th). But why mention Eric in this TBH report? Because Eric turns 80 years old this week, and is a shining example to everyone that age does not have to be a barrier when it comes to running (or exercise in general) and can still play a big part in our everyday life. Here’s to Eric completing his next 100 runs 
Saturday played host to the 3rd race of the club’s parkrun Summer Series, and 15 members turned out to earn themselves points. Soggy conditions underfoot (and a slightly longer course to compensate for the closure of the Town Moor) meant PB’s were hard to come by, but nevertheless, the general consensus was that it was good to be back running again after last week’s cancellation. First finisher for the club was Sparrow Morley (18:25) whilst first female finisher was Megan Parkin (22:53). Well done to everyone who took part.

192 participants completed the run on Saturday, with the first male to finish being Jordan SCOTT (M) in a time of 00:17:18. The first lady completing the course was Alison DARGIE (F) (Elswick Harriers) in a time of 00:19:10.

Meanwhile, over in Gateshead, Tony Carter once again tackled the undulating course with seemingly ease, finishing first overall in a time of 18:18. Coming fifth overall, in a time of 19:52, was Simon Pryde. Well done guys.

66 participants completed the run on Saturday. The first male to finish was Tony CARTER (M) (Tyne Bridge Harriers) in a time of 00:18:18. The first lady completing the course was Anna SEELEY (F) (Elvet Striders) in a time of 00:23:19.
