For the only the second time in it’s 2 and half year existence, Newcastle parkrun had to be cancelled on Saturday due to an event in Exhibition Park celebrating Armed Forces Day. Sadly, because no-one had informed the organisors of parkrun, it meant there was no time to come up with an alternative route and runners were left to either do a steady run on their own or return home for an early breakfast. (Luckily for club members Darryl Davison, Alexwood and Stuart Dickson, I was on-hand to come up with a replacement training session which I know they all thoroughly enjoyed 
)
Thankfully we did have some members taking part in a parkrun event (otherwise this would have been the shortest parkrun report in history), and it was over in Gateshead (Saltwell Park), where John Tollitt and Vicki Deritis took part in the 19th running of this event.

60 participants completed the run on Saturday, with the first male to finish being Michael KEENAN (M) (Birtley AC) in a time of 00:18:30. The first lady completing the course was Anna Leyla SCOTT (F) in a time of 00:24:08.
