Newcastle parkrun: 30/Apr/11

Congratulations to Victoria Hall for completing her first run as a Tyne Bridge Harrier as well as her debut at Newcastle parkrun today. Once again, Graham King was positioned 1st in Age Category this morning with a superb run of 20:47. Louis Goffe also made his debut at parkrun and sailed across the line in 5th place with an excellent result of 17:44. Dave Appleby wasn’t too far behind him, just missing the sub 18 but with a great time of 18:03.

Both Rob Kirtley & Micky Baker had solid runs, but hats off to ‘Double D’ who took on the 5k Course dressed in a full Orange body suit, as part of the new Lucozade Sports Drink promotion which took place at the Town Moor event this morning.

Dave, together with Mark Hall ran round supporting Victoria. With a record turn out of 257 runners in attendance, Newcastle parkrun is continuing to go from strength to strength.

The event would not be possible without the fantastic work of the Volunteers and also to Newcastle parkrun event organiser and Race Director Niyc Pidgeon. Today also marked her final parkrun as RD as she will be leaving the UK to take up new and exciting employment and residence in Germany in May.

From everyone at Tyne Bridge Harriers, We’d like to thank Niyc for the superb work she has done both on and off the course to set up and bring parkrun to Newcastle. We all wish you the very best for your future and hope you will be back from time to time. CHEERS NIYC

  1. Don’t forget folks, next Saturday (7th May) is the second race in the club’s parkrun Grand Prix Series. Let’s have an even bigger turn-out than today.
